APPROACH

I structure each lesson to the individual. Every student is different and mixing and matching focuses is the name of the game. Coming with an opinion is the best way to develop ability!

Technique drills for young students are mitigated with games and doodles. Students looking to play their favorite pop songs are given a foundation in theory so as better to understand the elements of those songs. Lessons for students hoping for classical training are curated to build technique, strength, and dexterity without the risk of injury.

The goal of each lesson is to highlight strengths and support weaknesses. Exercises are personalized to pinpoint the area of focus. Original play-a-long videos make practice at home more productive and efficient. There is a strong emphasis on the physicality of playing.

In addition to practical study, students gain a deeper musical knowledge with theory work, ear training exercises, and listening assignments. Use these skills in the context of playing enhances understanding of the repertoire.

TESTEMONIALS

“Carol Anne started teaching my oldest and almost a year since she started lessons with my middle daughter. She is teaching them piano and they are thriving under her instruction.

She is positive, kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, firm, and encouraging. She helps them learn the power of practice, perseverance, and the thrill of mastering something challenging.”
